Some tunes in the collection
will have the symbol above
given notes to indicate where a roll, cran, vibrato, or other
ornamentation may be placed as a variation and/or depending on
skill level. A simple method for implementing variations in a
tune would be to change up the ornamentation each time the note
with the symbol is repeated.
These tunes were arranged
with the beginning uilleann piper in mind, but not meant to be
strictly beginner tunes. They are in no way meant to be played
exactly as written, as with any traditional Irish tunes, they
are open to variation, style, and interpretation.
