Some tunes in the collection will have the symbol  above given notes to indicate where a roll, cran, vibrato, or other ornamentation may be placed as a variation and/or depending on skill level. A simple method for implementing variations in a tune would be to change up the ornamentation each time the note with the symbol is repeated.

These tunes were arranged with the beginning uilleann piper in mind, but not meant to be strictly beginner tunes. They are in no way meant to be played exactly as written, as with any traditional Irish tunes, they are open to variation, style, and interpretation.
